Marek Bulaj has worked
as a staff photographer for world-renowned architect Michael Graves for the past
12 years. Previously, he was a freelance photographer for the New York Daily
News and staff photographer at Jasna Polana (private estate of Barbara
Piasecka Johnson in Princeton, N.J.). He has collaborated with The Pierpont
Morgan Library, William Helburn Productions, Inc., Lawrence Giasi Photography,
and Estate Eight Photographic Group (Princeton, N.J.).
Marek’s photographs have
appeared in exhibition catalogues such as Opus Sacrum (Warsaw, 1990 and
Liechtenstein, 1991), Drawings by Raphael and His Circle (The Pierpont
Morgan Library, 1987), and Angel Orenzanz: Disegni 1991-2000 (Galleria
d’Arte Contemporanea di Pavullo nel Frignano, 2001). His other publications
include The New York Times, Art & Antiques, New Jersey
Monthly, Paris Match, Hello!, iHola!, Gioto, Stone
World and Carrousel.
While at Michael Graves
and Associates, Marek has contributed photographs to many of the firm’s
publications including Michael Graves Designer Monographs 3 (1994),
Michael Graves Buildings and Projects (1990-1994), The Master Architect
Series III (1999), and Buildings and Projects (1995-2003).
Marek studied at the
International Center of Photography in New York and attended New York
University’s Tisch School of Arts. He has knowledge of both traditional and
digital photography and is familiar with all film and camera formats. He
specializes in historical processes such as cyanotype, gum printing, platinum,
and palladium.
